Kwakernaak B.V. has developed an extensive pump test facility, which is in use since 2011. This installation is completely approved and is getting a yearly check to be able to execute measurements according to the highest norm with a minimum deviation.

Several pumps are ready to be tested.

Pumps are tested according to the ISO 9906 grade 1 and 2 and the associated Annexes. We have 5 lines for centrifugal pumps and 12 lines for standard submersible pumps. There are also 5 possibilities to test in parallel company. Standard tests are performed with 315kW-400 Volt. 630kW-400 Volt is available on the basis of an additional cost.

In the meantime loads of different pumps have been tested. Much axle is needed while testing pumps. Herefore we use rain water. All the collected rain water is kept in a basin under the building.

Many different pumps are able to be tested, such as: Submersible pumps, drawn up dry pumps, source pumps, axial flow pumps, sprinkler pumps, circulation pumps, reheater pumps with temperature monitoring, ballast pumps, split case pumps and other high pressure pumps. These pumps can be tested till 40 Bar.

There are also possibilities for testing with hydro packs, diesel-powered pumps and High Voltage engines.

Submersible pumps

  • The standard lines for Submersible pumps are available from DN 50 till DN 300.
  • Tests can also be provided for pumps with bigger press openings.
  • Standard foot bends are embedded till DN 300.
  • DN 400 and DN 500 can also be embedded and conjugated to a test line.
  • Pumps that are not equipped with drilled flanges can be tested on associated foot bends.

Drawn up dry pump

  • The maximum press pipe diameter is DN 600.
  • The maximum suction pipe connection is DN 800.
  • The line executed in DN 250 has a pressure range of 14 Bar.
  • Each line has a minimum and maximum flow and pressure.

High pressure pumps

In addition to these test lines, there is a standard line available for the high pressure pumps up to 40 Bar with a maximum flow of 335 m³/hour. A larger flow rate with the same pressure is possible after extra preparation to 555 m³.

NPSH-A en NPSH-R can be measured and the cavitation points can be assessed. During the testing process there can be taken care of vibration measurements.

Certificate

Kwakernaak B.V. has a certificate for testing pumps according to the highest standard, Grade 1. The certificate has been handed to us by VSL, a part of the Dutch Measurement Institute. VSL approved our installation and certified it. The VSL CMC certified program for Flow enables us to ensure an up to date installation. This certificate can be shown on request. All certificates of the calibration of all used equipment and the uncertainty budget can be shown on request of the customer.

  • Using FO’s and link feet

Tests are ran with our FO’s and will be controlled and connected by us. FO´s are available till 160 kW, bigger types on request. The losses of the FO´s are processed in the output calculations based on the information provided by the supplier. Pumps can also be tested with supplied FO’s if the pump and FO have to be tested together. Of course, these can also be built-in and connected by us.

Testing with supplied link feet or testing with link feet supplied by us to test submersible pumps, that do not have drilled flanges is possible.

  • Drawings

3D drawings can be made available to the test if desirable. As a client you can use the visualization on the drawings to check all dimensions in ‘SITU’. All measuring equipment is accessible for visual inspection.

  • Planning and test

The planning and execution are determined during consideration. Beforehand, working points and engine speeds should be available for imports into the computer associated with the automated processing in the test installation.

The tests can be followed live and attended by clients and other stakeholders such as inspection bodies and certification agencies. There is a room available for stays during the testing and installation and removal of pumps. Eventually we provide lunches to extensive testing and multiple pump tests that are performed consecutively.

If desired, transport can be taken care of by Kwakernaak. Temporary storage of the pumps at Kwakernaak also belongs to the possibilities. Of course you will get an explanation of the operation of the installation and the values to use with which the test will be performed.

The test can be followed on a touchscreen on which the operation and monitoring takes place. Immediately after the test, the reports are visible, they are automatically generated by the report tool.

Expanding testing facility

We are still expanding and developing our installation to be able to test more pumps in the future. For example, preparations are made to be able to test engines on output and loss. Torque measurements are also in preparation.

Costs

The price range for testing pumps depends on the power, the required test lines and any additional activities such as; using special FO’s and pipe sections. The construction and the size of the construction will also influence the price range. You can express your wishes regarding to the test, afterwards we will prepare an offer for you.
